A cold front usually follows these blizzards. Tomorrow is forecast for a high temperature of 1 degree below zero. Dang, now I will have to find my gloves.

Thanks for the photos (ahem).
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Is 20 inches of snow that unusual where you live? I remember (I think) they put teflon on it so the snow would slide off, but you'd think it would be built to handle a blizzard.
That's no roof, but a bit of giant tarp - shouldn't be too difficult to replace. Saw on the news you had a BIG blizzard - how exciting. Sometimes I miss the seasons - it was 70F yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThis was the 5th biggest snowfall on record here, the biggest since 1991, so quite abnormal. The dome has deflated 5 times but not always with those exact storms. When it was new, it deflated with the next snowstorm, because they hadn't learned how to increase blowing hot air up inside to melt the snow that didn't slide off.
ReplyDeleteIt usually didn't rip, either. Of Course, that teflon is now almost 30 years old. Probably weak and not so slippery anymore. The owner of the Vikings wants a new stadium altogether, not just a repair. Threatening to move to Los Angeles if I don't cough up some money for him! Poor New York billionaire.
Correction: The paper says there were only 4 deflations, all caused by snow.
